Mission Statement and History

Women's Community Medical Clinic has served the community since 1973. Our medical directors and founders have remained steadfast in their commitment to the original mission: to provide affordable and compassionate health care to every patient in a setting that maintains the dignity of the patients. In particular, our mission has remained strongly committed to providing health care services to lower income women in an inner city area of need.

We are a Pro-Choice clinic. We support Reproductive Rights and Abortion Rights. We support every woman's right to have a choice about her pregnancy. Every woman has a right to make an informed choice about her pregnancy, to make it without coercion and with all the facts. We are commited to helping a patient to be aware of her options and to make the best decision that she can. We are very sensitive to the issues of confidentiality. We are careful to respect and to protect a patient's right to privacy.

Read the Notice of Privacy Practices for Women's Community Medical Clinic which describes how we may use and disclose your protected health information to carry out treatment, payment or health care operations and for other purposes that are permitted or required by law. It also describes your rights to access and control your protected health information. "Protected health information" is information about you, including demographic information, that may identify you and that relates to your past, present or future physical or mental health or condition and related health care services.

We are very proud of the staff who have worked here over the years. There has always been a high level of commitment to respect and to support our patients in a non-judgemental manner. There are times when our staff members have left the clinic to pursue other goals. They may have taken time out to raise families or go to school, but they have often returned because they have had a unique and special connection with this clinic and the role it plays in our community.

In August of 1993, Women's Community Medical Clinic, which previously was structured as a non-profit corporation, was restructured as a medical corporation in order to ensure the continued viability of the clinic and to continue to serve the community.
